Description

Baldiri Reixac completed his studies at the Girona Seminary and closely followed the teachings of the rector of the University of Paris, Charles Rollin. After making several unsuccessful oppositions, he was appointed on April 25, 1730, rector of the small parish of Sant Martí d’Ollers, a position he held until 1781. In addition to being rector, he was also a teacher there and wrote and translated books. As a priest he felt called to help the formation of youth. His main work “Instructions for teaching maids”, is the result of many years of work and experience. The text, very thoughtful, was intended to be a useful book for boys who went to school and which could also be used in teaching in private homes. It was published in 1749. This second volume remained unpublished, and when it was found in the 70s of the 20th century among the Library’s manuscripts, it was studied and published.
