Description

This is the first document we keep in the archive where a group (those in the wool sector) complains about the too lax measures taken by other countries to introduce their genre (textiles) in Spain. They demand that more protectionist measures be taken, since they have many difficulties in exporting their products (textiles) to other countries. In retrospect, the textile manufacturers in Catalonia are the most harmed, as they have had to close factories due to the cost of acquiring raw materials and selling the manufacture. Trade in the 19th century with Europe was complicated, reaching commercial agreements where everyone would benefit was not easy.

It is a document that exposes the problems in production and trade in Spain and Catalonia vis-à-vis the rest of Europe and contemplates the protectionist movement of the moment.
