Description

This autobiographical writing by Irish brigadier Bob Doyle, written between 1990 and 2002, is a direct and committed witness to the international struggle against fascism during the Spanish Civil War. A member of the International Brigades, Doyle fought alongside thousands of European and American volunteers who saw the Spanish conflict as a decisive battle for freedom and democracy. His memoirs, written decades later, not only document personal experience, but also preserve the collective memory of a solidarity and transnational movement.
