Description

The Gerhard family had taken root in Valls to dedicate themselves to the wine export business. Robert, as the first born, was responsible for continuing the family business but at the age of 18 he was already dedicated to music, in Switzerland, Germany, Austria… Returning to Barcelona, he sympathized with the Republic, he had to go into exile at the beginning of 1939 and set up residence in Cambridge, after a short stay in Warsaw and Paris. Key figure in the history of contemporary music, forerunner of electronic sounds… he, like so many others, did not see the point in doing military service. Today, most European armies are professional and non-commissioned.
