Description

The Regulation of the Most Pure Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, approved in 1910, is a representative example of the statutory wealth preserved in the Catalan archives. This document reflects the vitality of religious brotherhoods, which, beyond their devotional function, had a fundamental role in social cohesion, mutual assistance and community life. At a time when Catalan society was between tradition and modernity, these statutes kept alive a model of collective organization rooted in centuries of European history. The regulation tells us of a shared spirituality, of a symbolic and practical order that connected Catalonia with other territories on the continent through similar forms of religious associationism. It is a testimony of how faith and the norm met to structure daily life and preserve collective memory.
