Description

The Spanish Civil War was the prelude to the Second World War and many idealists joined the fight against fascism by joining the international brigades, later gathered in the 35th division under a centralized command. This is the case of this Norwegian soldier, 26 years old, married, who died and was buried in Valls, in the common grave. Today the Democratic Memorial still works to recover the memory of the period, locate and dignify the dead. The values and solidarity demonstrated by these brigade members are what move Europe today, both at an institutional and human level. It was precisely a personal initiative that allowed Oluf Milde’s daughter and granddaughter to visit his grave in 2010.
