Description

The hand programs of operatic performances from 1945 are a tangible example of the cultural vitality of Catalonia in a time of post-war and repression. Despite the political difficulties, the opera continued to be a space for meeting and artistic expression, connecting the Catalan public with universal art. These documents reflect the continuity of a European musical tradition and its reception in Catalonia, especially through theaters such as the Liceu. They are a valuable source for studying cultural programming, public tastes and the circulation of artists and repertoires. In addition, they highlight the capacity for cultural resistance and the will to keep alive an artistic legacy shared with Europe, even in adverse contexts.
