Description

The Vergés emulsion, masterful reference formula against tuberculosis, a creation from Torello.
The municipal archive of Torelló preserves the documentary collection of Francesc Xavier Vergés, pharmacist and politician from Torelló, founder of the historic Farmàcia Vergés de Torelló.
Vergés excelled in the invention and commercialization of Vergés Emulsion (1906), a reconstituent made from cod liver oil with anti-tuberculosis properties and highly recommended to combat anemia and rickets. It was adopted by the First Tuberculosis Dispensary of Barcelona and enjoyed a good advertising campaign and wide distribution throughout the country.
