Description

The writer Artur Bladé i Desumvila (1907-1995) bequeathed us an extensive memoir about the Terres de l’Ebre and, especially, his native town, Benissanet, but also about exile, which he lived in the first person – initially in France and then in Mexico – which allowed him to come into contact with some of the main Catalan intellectuals who were thrown there, such as Antoni Rovira i Virgili or Francesc Hills, to name a few.
Without any doubt, one of the works that most reliably explains the Catalan exile caused by the Civil War is the work Exiled, of which we suggest consulting a typed version, since it shows how, even in a historical context as tragic as the exile, Catalan intellectuals strengthened their Europeanism and international relations.
