Description

The protocol of the Internal Statute Law of Catalonia, approved on May 25, 1933, is a fundamental document for understanding the institutionalization of Catalan self-government during the Second Republic. This law regulated the internal functioning of the Parliament, the Government and other bodies of the Generalitat, establishing the legal and administrative bases for proper and democratic management. The text shows Catalonia’s will to provide itself with a stable, transparent and homologable legal framework for European parliamentary systems. It is a key witness of how Catalonia, at a time of democratic openness, built its institutions with a European vocation, based on respect for legality, representation and citizen participation.
