Description

This document from 1956 contains the request of a textile company from Igualada to the Ministery of Industry to import machinery that could not be acquired in Spain. It is a clear testimony of the difficulties that Catalan companies faced during the post-war period, in a context of economic autarky and state control. Despite the limitations, the textile sector looked for alternatives to modernize, often resorting to technology from Germany or other European countries. This document reflects the resilience of Catalan industry and its willingness to connect with European technological currents. It is also an example of how, even in adverse contexts, Catalonia maintained a vocation for innovation and economic openness.
