Description

The Hispano-Suiza car factory is an example of the commercial and economic success of a Barcelona company that crossed borders. On June 14, 1904, politician, businessman and collector Damià Mateu, businessman Francesc Seix and Swiss engineer Marc Birkigt founded the luxury car brand “Hispano-Suiza” in Barcelona, which was initially located in Barcelona’s Eixample. The success of his models was immediate and he soon began to export cars to Russia and South America. The Hispano-Suiza factory, which had already established a subsidiary in France in 1911, exported from Barcelona to the whole world some of the most desired luxury vehicles of the first third of the 20th century.
The present catalog is a sample of the first years of the company. You can see the different models of city cars and passenger cars, buses, trucks and boat engines, with generous illustrations that show not only the production of the brand but also the aesthetic tastes and fashion of the time.
