Description

Documentation of the Socialist Movement of the United States of Europe collected by Enric Adroher i Pascual, known as “Gironella”. Enric Adroher (1908-1987) was a Catalan politician; he was the founder and militant of the Workers’ Party of Marxist Unification (POUM) in 1935. After the Civil War he went into exile in Mexico, but in 1947 he returned to Europe and participated in the founding of the Socialist Movement for the United States of Europe, predecessor of the European Socialist Party.
Among these, a cyclostyled letter or communique announcing the convening of an international conference in Paris, in June 1947, in order to create the Socialist United States of Europe, and signed by Henry Frenay and “Gironella”, members of the Conference secretariat, stands out.
