Description

This set of handwritten documentation is a fundamental witness to the activity of the Catalan National Council, one of the main organizations of the anti-Franco Catalan exile. Active especially in the United Kingdom and America, the Council played a key role in the defense of Catalonia’s national rights and in the international projection of its cause. Through this documentation, it is possible to follow the articulation of a parallel diplomacy, the construction of support networks and the participation in international forums. Its value lies both in the political content and in the human dimension of the exiles who, despite the distance, kept alive the flame of Catalanity. This fund is fully inscribed in the theme of international relations and politics, and shows how the Catalan exile contributed to the configuration of a democratic and pluralistic Europe.
