Description

This manuscript reproduces the chronicle of the monastery of Sant Pere de les Puel·les that appeared in the 13th century and which places the legendary foundation of the monastery in the 9th century during the conquest of the city from the Muslims by Guifré el Pilós. Speech that is inserted into the literary resource widely used in the Catalan territories to trace back the origins of the institutions, religious but also royal, to the time of dependency of the counties under the Carolingian Empire. A discourse that connects Catalonia and the origin of its institutions with the origin of one of the first great European political structures and that was used as a resource to show the antiquity and political and legal independence of those entities that employed it.
