Description

The certificate issued by the archivist of the Monastery of Sant Cugat on November 15, 1756 is a document of great historical and material value. Written on paper lined with cloth, it incorporates filigrees characteristic of the time, among which that of Anton Ferrer, a renowned manufacturer, stands out. This type of support, common in official documentation of the 18th century, makes it possible to identify the origin and authenticity of the document, as well as to study the manufacturing techniques of handmade paper. The certificate reflects the administrative and patrimonial function of the monastery, and highlights the importance of archivists as guarantors of institutional memory. This document is a valuable testimony of documentary continuity and the quality of the supports used, and contributes to understanding the functioning of the monastic centers and their relationship with the territory in the context of the Ancien Régime.
