Description

Preliminary project for a local industrial school, submitted by the City Council to the Commonwealth competition in 1918. Thus, in 1922 Canet de Mar hosted the first and only local Industrial School in the country. Closed by the dictatorship of Primo de Ribera, it reopened under the tutelage of the Generalitat in 1932. The School became a national reference in the textile industry. Linked to the Provincial Council of Barcelona, ​​the center currently continues its teaching and technological research work.
Document that testifies to the City Council’s commitment to educational and cultural modernization, in a context of economic specialization of the population in the textile industry sector: professional education as an economic engine through the specialization of future workers. The Canet center established regular contacts with other homologous schools in Europe and actively collaborated in the annual international congresses on knitting genres.
