Description

Pere Anton Veciana was the first commander of the Catalan Squads (which today are called Mossos d’Esquadra and are the oldest judicial police in Europe). The letter reveals the relationships between the well-to-do classes of the moment, who talk as much about international relations (with news from France and the Peace of Vienna) or economics (wheat prices or the lease of Valls tithes) as about the relationships between the respective women (that clothes are sent to each other).
