Description

The score “Hijos de España”, written by Antonio Paños and dedicated to the Spanish children exiled in the USSR, is an emotional document that reflects the human dimension of republican exile. These children, known as the “Children of the War”, were evacuated to protect them from bombings and repression, and grew up far from their country, in a very different cultural and political environment. The song, included in Dolores Ibárruri’s correspondence, shows the effort to keep identity and collective memory alive among the youngest. This document connects with other European experiences of childhood displaced by war and highlights culture as a tool of emotional and educational resistance. It is also a testament to international solidarity and the ability of music to unite dispersed communities.
