Description

Francesc Miret Soler, from Vilafranca, was a man with an entrepreneurial spirit and knew how to transform the craft activity of his father-in-law, the potter Josep Nin Vives, into an industrial activity. On April 21, 1942, the manufacture and sale of mosaics, building materials and ceramics began. The facilities of this factory were located on Carrer Indústria, l’Escorxador and Puig i Llagostera, next to the riera de la Bisbal del Vendrell. The raw material came from clay workers from different places, such as Viladecans, Piera and Esparreguera. Its important industrial production, the commercial activity it generated at the local and county level and its national and international projection (Australia, the United States, Jordan, Iran, Canada) led this company to become the benchmark for Vendrell’s industrial activity during the second half of the 20th century. The company closed in 1998 and its facilities were completely demolished in 2006, although they preserved one of these chimneys as a souvenir.
