Description

Historically, Cambrils beach has been one of the main points of embarkation and disembarkation of goods in Camp de Tarragona. During the Middle and Modern Ages it was a dangerous space as a result of constant attacks by pirates and corsairs. In the middle of the 19th century, once the coast was no longer systematically attacked, a small urban center developed around the Torre del Port, which over time became the neighborhood of Platja de Cambrils. Presiding over the space is the Port Tower, which the photographer, Antoni Campañà, places in the center of this snapshot from 1945.
