Description

We bring this photograph of Esteve Albert i Corp as we consider that he is one of the two Rio de Janeiro that has had the most significance during the 20th century and has the power to have one of the most international stories of the moment. Esteve Albert, among others, was a poet, playwright, historian and cultural promoter who was born in 1914 in Dosrius. From a young age he was interested in folklore, legends and popular songs (he collaborated with Joan Tomàs on the Obra del Cançoner Popular de Catalunya). Likewise, it can be said that he was a man very involved in the politics of the country, even giving place in his home, in 1946, to the 1st Conference of the National Front of Catalonia (FNC). Later, he went to reside in the Principality of Andorra due to Franco’s police persecution. Albert is also important for Northern Catalonia, as he played a certain role in the creation of the Rossellonès Group of Catalan Studies or the Universitat Catalana d’Estiu a Prada de Conflent. He died in 1995 in Andorra.
