Description

Since 1942, in the month of May, the town of Vendrell celebrates the Bicycle Festival. It was an initiative of Joan Fusté i Rius (1920-1990), a great cycling fan from Vendrell, who was inspired by the Festival of the Three Tombs. The bicycles used to be decorated with flowers and, over time, the complexity of their decorations showed the creativity of the participants, who transformed the bicycles into spectacular floats. The Festival was well received and became a point of reference for other Catalan towns. This festival continues to be celebrated today with the same spirit.
