Description

Spain’s role in World War II has often been defined as neutral, or only Spain’s volunteer fighters in Europe are discussed. However, the Franco regime was framed in a context of the rise of fascism in Europe and its relationship with the leaders and European fascism is undeniable. Thus, with this large propaganda mural that was placed in the Plaça Gran de Ripoll, the regime defined how ruinous the Europe that had defeated fascism and praised the situation in Spain, which, according to the regime, it had pacified. He sought to establish a propagandistic idea of the “peace” of fascist Spain against the “ruin” of Europe.
