Description

Sister Carmen Ortiz de Arce, also known as Sister Perboire, was a teacher at the “School for the blind and deaf-mutes” of the Casa de Caritat in Barcelona during the first third of the 20th century. She was also the inventor of the Regleta Sor in 1909 to facilitate communication between blind and sighted people, and which allowed the writing of letters and music with the Braille system. He assigned the patent for the invention to the Casa de Caritat, a welfare institution that depended on the Diputació de Barcelona.
