Description

The first demonstration of Gay Pride in Barcelona, held in 1977, is a historic document that marks the beginning of the public visibility of the LGTBIQ+ group in Catalonia. In a context of political and social change, this mobilization broke taboos and demanded rights, recognition and sexual freedom. The photographic document shows the courage of a group that, despite repression and discrimination, took to the streets to claim their identity. This action connects with the European movements for LGTBIQ+ rights and with the values of inclusion, diversity and respect that define the European project. Catalonia, with this pioneering demonstration, is positioning itself as a benchmark in the defense of human rights and in the construction of a fairer and more pluralistic Europe.
