Description

Document showing trade ties with Europe. The fair tradition in the city of Lleida is very old and documented already in the medieval period. On August 23, 1232, King Jaume I granted the city the privilege of holding an annual 10-day fair starting on Saint Michael’s Day, in the month of September. Already in the Middle Ages, the fairs of Lleida had an international character as they gathered traders and merchants from Toulouse, Montpellier and other localities in the south of France. Already in modern times, from 1960, together with the Sant Miquel Fair, an international fruit congress is held, which will be the seed of the celebration of the Eurofruit fair, which enhances the international projection of the fair institution.
