Description: Image of the staff at Salvador Punsola’s factory taken around 1899. An official view of the world of work, where the workers change into their best clothes and work tools.
The portraits of groups of workers taken in the industries at the turn of the 20th century show the official pose of the workers in front of the camera; some images in which an important presence of child labor also stands out; an official vision in which the photographer worked on behalf of the factory owners in recreating an imaginary of production.
From the beginning of the 20th century until the 1970s, the economic engine in Canet was the textile industry. Photograph that recalls this industrial past, common in many European cities and towns: witness to labor relations in European factories of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
