Description

The photographic series of the Pont de Barques de Tortosa fire, taken in 1892 by Ramon Borrell, is a graphic document of great historical and symbolic value. This bridge, built in the 12th century and the only fixed crossing over the Ebro between Zaragoza and the mouth for centuries, represented a vital infrastructure for communication and trade. Its destruction marked the end of a stage and the beginning of a new period of urban and economic development. Its inclusion allows us to understand how changes in infrastructure have shaped the territory and how photography documents key moments of historical transition.
