Description

The document is part of one of the most important funds kept in the Chapter Archive, the Schism of the West. This documentation is the result of the political conflict in the See of Rome that involved two papal sees at the same time (Rome and Avignon) between the years 1378 and 1417. In 1409 they tried to resolve this split at the Council of Pisa where Alexander V was appointed as the new pope. In this document, Pope Luna communicated to the bishop of Tortosa and apostolic nuncio, Francesco Climent, that he did not accept the election of the new pope and excommunicated the cardinals who they follow
