Description

This plan is part of the documentation generated during the French Revolutionary Wars. In 1798, in the midst of Napoleonic expansion, France planned an invasion of England using special boats, landing rafts, built in Boulogne. This cartographic document shows the technical and strategic details of this plan, which was ultimately not implemented. It is a testament to military innovation and the geopolitical tension between France and Great Britain. In terms of heritage, it stands out for its cartographic typology, its governmental origin and its military and international themes. It reflects Catalonia’s participation in the circulation of European strategic information and its connection with the continent’s major conflicts.
