Description

This plan is framed in the context of the second half of the 18th century, when the Bourbon reforms promoted better management of natural resources and agricultural modernization. The Corb River, despite being modest, was essential for the irrigation of the Urgell and Conca de Barberà lands. The document shows the interest in controlling and optimizing the use of water through drains and canals, often linked to mills and orchards. In addition, cartography was used to resolve conflicts between owners, plan infrastructures and reinforce lordly control over water. This plan is a valuable testimony of hydraulic management before the great works of the 19th century, such as the Canal d’Urgell, and reflects an agricultural economy based on traditional irrigation and human intervention on the environment.
