Description

The International Exhibition of 1888, held in Barcelona, was a crucial event for the city and its connection with Europe. In the midst of the era of industrialization, the exhibition put Barcelona on the European map as a dynamic and modern city, capable of competing with other industrial capitals of the continent. It brought together participants from several European countries, who showed their advances in technology, industry and the arts, promoting the exchange of knowledge and innovations. This exhibition was an opportunity for Barcelona to align itself with the great European metropolises, such as Paris and London, which had already held similar events. In addition, it consolidated the city as a cultural and economic center of reference in Europe, promoting its urban and touristic growth, and strengthening links with other countries on the continent at a time of great social and technological transformations in Europe.
