Description

King Charles I informs the councilors of Barcelona that that year Pope Paul III, instead of granting the bull of the holy crusade, has granted a bull for the factory of the church of Sant Pere and Sant Pau in Rome, both to contribute to the construction of the aforementioned church and to the expenses of the war against the infidels. The construction of the current building of the Basilica of Saint Peter in the Vatican, on the old Constantinian Basilica, began on April 18, 1506, by order of Pope Julius II, and was finished more than a century later, on November 18, 1626.
