Description

This document records the creation of a census (a form of credit with a guarantee on income) by the town of Albi in favor of Gerard de Basquerà, from Falset. This practice, widespread in late medieval Catalonia, reflects the use of financial mechanisms by local communities to obtain resources. Its uniqueness lies in the ability to document economic relationships between municipal institutions and individuals, as well as the consolidation of a legal and financial culture of its own. It is a valuable testimony of the administrative maturity and self-governing capacity of the Catalan towns within the framework of feudal Europe.
