Description

Manuscript of religious polyphony from the end of the 15th and beginning of the 16th century with 22 works: Bartomeu Cots (1), Heinrich Isaac (4), Josquin Des Prés (4), Milans (1), Jacob Obrecht (1), Francisco de Peñalosa (1), Alonso de la Plaja (2), Marturià Prats (1), Jean Richafort (1), anonymous works (5) and a work attributed in various sources to four different composers: Anchieta, Compère, Peñalosa and Ribera.
It is an exceptional document because it contains both Catalan music and international composers of great prestige, a very exceptional fact. In addition, it is the only source that transmits the Missa Argentum et aurum by the composer Henri Isaac; the most complete source for the Missa Salve diva parens by Jacob Obrecht, and together with Vatican Manuscript 41, is the most reliable source for the transmission of the Missa Fortuna desperata by Josquin Des Prés. This document most likely comes from the papal chapel in Rome.
