Description

The document, included in a register of the royal chancellery of the secretary Joan de Coloma, contains “the things requested and that your Highnesses give and grant to Don Cristóval de Colón, in some satisfaction of what he has discovered in the Mares Oceanas and of the journey that now, with the help of God, he must make for them in the service of your Highnesses”. It is dated April 17, 1492, three and a half months before the start of Columbus’ first voyage to the Indies. This record has been included by UNESCO in the Memory of the World Register.
