Description: This manuscript fragment, dated between the years 1000 and 1099, transports us to the spirituality and liturgy of medieval Catalonia. It is a folio of a Lliçoner, a liturgical book that collected the biblical readings for religious celebrations. The text includes passages from Daniel, the epistles to the Thessalonians and the Gospel according to Saint Matthew, intended for the Four Seasons and the second Sunday of Lent. Curiously, this valuable testimony of religious culture was reused as the cover of an economic management booklet, preserved in the Esquerrer family’s fund. This reuse tells us about the continuity and transformation of written materials, and how the sacred word was integrated into everyday life. The document reflects the connection of Catalonia with the European liturgical tradition and the importance of written culture in the construction of a shared identity.
