Description

The score “Antifona, O Sanctissima anima”, composed in 1920 by Monsignor Salvador Ritort i Faus, music teacher of the Provincial Charity of Tarragona, is an outstanding example of the musical heritage preserved in the Catalan archives. This liturgical work reflects the cultural and spiritual wealth of Catalonia at the beginning of the 20th century, where sacred music played a central role in community and religious life. The document, of textual and musical typology, is part of an institutional fund linked to the welfare and ecclesiastical sphere, and shows how artistic creation was integrated into the social structures of the territory. The score is witness to the transmission of musical knowledge and the Catalan contribution to European culture through religious music, reinforcing values such as beauty, faith and social cohesion. It is a key piece for understanding the cultural dimension of Catalonia in the European context.
