Description

Drawing belonging to the Golden Book of the Catalan Orfeó. It is an album of dedications that illustrates the qualitative and quantitative scope of the relationships that the entity maintained with relevant personalities of the time in the field of music, arts and letters, culture, politics or the ecclesiastical estates. Some of the musicians listed – such as Richard Strauss, Charles Bordes, Felip Pedrell, Antoni Nicolau, Maurice Ravel, Albert Schweitzer, Wanda Landowska, Blanca Selva, Camille Saint-Saëns, Kurt Schindler or Joseph Canteloube, among others – had collaborative relationships with the Orfeó.
One of the most relevant dedications is this drawing by Antoni Gaudí, signed on Saint Peter’s Day in 1922, where he says: “In heaven we will all be orpheonists”, and which presents a drawing of the myth of Orpheus charming the fairies.
