Description

Émile Boisselier’s Album of Drawings, which includes a view of the Isabel II Bridge in Girona dated 1889, is a graphic document of exceptional artistic and documentary value. Boisselier, a French artist, captured various Catalan places with landscape sensitivity and architectural detail, showing the cultural and visual connection between Catalonia and Europe. This drawing reflects Girona at the end of the 19th century, at a time of urban transformation and openness to tourism and the outside world. Its inclusion makes it possible to show how the European artistic perspective contributed to the construction of an image of Catalonia as a culturally rich territory with a unique landscape.
