Description

This architectural drawing of Casa Amatller, made between 1898 and 1900 by Josep Puig i Cadafalch, is a key piece of Catalan modernist heritage. It represents the facade of an emblematic building on Barcelona’s Passeig de Gràcia, a symbol of the city’s urban and cultural transformation at the end of the 19th century. The document, of great graphic and artistic value, reflects the creative effervescence of a time when Catalonia projected itself towards Europe through architecture, art and industry. It is part of the institutional fund linked to the architectural and urban planning activity of the city, and is part of the Barcelona Vegueria. This drawing not only shows the formal originality of Modernism, but also demonstrates Catalonia’s will to participate actively in European cultural currents, consolidating its own identity within a shared framework.
