Description: The Nens del Vendrell colla castellera (human pyramid group) was founded in 1926 and is still active. Throughout his castellar activity, two characters should be highlighted: the castellar Emili Miró Fons (el Vendrell, 1900- Terrassa, 1993) and Joan Julivert Nin (el Vendrell, 1907-1972), “master of masters in the difficult castellar art” according to the words of the chronicler Salvador Palau Rovira. Jan Julivert was leader of the gang from 1944 until his death. In 1976, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Nens del Vendrell, the Castellera gang created the gang’s gold medal, which was awarded to Jan Julivert. On September 27, 1970, the castella group Nens del Vendrell won the VI Tarragona Castles Competition with a spectacular performance that culminated in a two out of eight with lining.
