Description

This old recording of “El Cant de la Senyera” is a sample of the choral and patriotic symbolism that marked the cultural Catalanism of the early 20th century. Composed by Millet, the piece became an anthem of musical associationism and national vindication. The sound document reflects the desire to preserve the Catalan language and culture in a context of state homogenization. Its inclusion in the digital resource reinforces the role of music in the construction of a pluralistic Europe rooted in its cultures.
