Description

The Empuriabrava urbanization (Castelló d’Empúries) was conceived and materialized during the period of openness and economic and social development of the Franco regime, a time that was favorable to foreign real estate investments. Spain, and specifically the Costa Brava, had become a tourist destination for many Central Europeans looking to spend their holidays in an environment of sun and beach. The urbanization, equipped with a network of navigable canals, began to be built in 1964, despite the fact that its legalization was not approved until three years later. From the beginning, its promoters, Eurobrava S.A. first and Ampuriabrava S.A. then, they launched a propaganda campaign – in which this promotional video is included -, aimed at capturing the attention of the foreign public for the promotion of second residence villas. Today, Empuriabrava triples in surface area the municipality of Castelló d’Empúries, with a housing stock with a capacity for around 75,000 people.
