These documents show the diverse origins of the patients, coming from multiple European countries, and demonstrate the transnational dimension of the conflict. Its preservation makes it possible to study the medical organization in times of war and the involvement of health professionals in a collective cause. In addition, they are a tool to recover the personal stories of those who risked their lives to defend freedom in Spain.
