The document of establishments on the site of Mas de Barberans, previously known as Vila de Santa Maria, preserved between the years 1680 and 1840, is an exceptional source for understanding the daily life and social organization of a rural village in Montsi\u00e0 during the modern era. This manuscript contains the rules of coexistence that governed the community, as well as the sanctions and fines imposed on those who violated them. Through this document, we can observe how aspects such as property, public behavior, neighborhood relations and the management of collective resources were regulated. Its importance lies in the fact that it offers us a direct view of the structures of local government and of the legal and moral culture of a peasant society. In addition, it reflects the self-regulation capacity of Catalan rural communities and their contribution to the configuration of a model of coexistence based on collective responsibility and respect for the rules.
