In 1741, the Royal Court of Barcelona issued a decree regulating the powers of the T\u00e0rrega City Council in the appointment of the batlle and two mostassafs for the Talladell site. This document is a clear example of the complex institutional architecture that governed local life in eighteenth-century Catalonia, at a time when the territory was adapting to the new administrative structures imposed after the War of Succession. The intervention of the Royal Court, the Principality’s highest judicial instance, reflects Bourbon centralization and the will to control and standardize local governance. At the same time, it highlights the persistence of an active and organized municipal life, which continued to articulate the territory.
