This document, drawn up before 1800, lists the meadows used by the printed fabric factories – the so-called “painted” – located in the Porta Nova area of \u200b\u200bBarcelona. It is a valuable source for understanding the incipient industrial development of the city at a time of transition between the pre-industrial economy and modern manufacturing. The list shows us how textile activity, the economic engine of Catalonia, began to be organized systematically, with specific spaces for the bleaching and drying of fabrics. This document reflects Barcelona’s integration into European commercial and production circuits, and tells us about a city that, at the turn of the 19th century, was already projected as an industrial capital.
