Establishment contract"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In 1182, the first preserved document from the collection of the Curia del Castell de Torell\u00f3 was drawn up: an establishment contract that opened the door to a long documentary tradition. This parchment, the first of a set of 648 spanning almost five centuries (1282\u20131667), is much more than a simple legal agreement: it is the starting point of an archive that reflects the evolution of law, society and the economy of a living territory. The establishment contract, typical of feudal Catalonia, regulated the transfer of land in exchange for services or censuses, and allowed the settlement and agricultural activity to be structured.
